Jameson's Lego Firetruck!

It has been awhile again since I have blogged, but per my oldest daughter's (here ya go Jossy) request I am going to try and get back in the swing of things.  Lots to catch up on, but I figure I'll just start with what happened today and go from there.  If I get the itch to do a back post then I'll do so, but moving forward!!!

Tim and I had a little fun this past weekend and took the kids to the store and let them all pick out one toy each.  Christmas in July!!!  They were so surprised and excited!  Almost everyone got LEGOS!!!  My house is full of Legos!  We love Legos also and enjoy spending time building with the kids.   Jameson is currently into City Legos.  Anything with Police or Firemen. So he was overjoyed to pick up a new Lego firetruck that he did not have yet.
He did such a good job following all the directions by himself.  This is a great addition to his collection and he has been having tons of fun!!!  Every morning the younger boys get up as early as they can wake up and get their morning stuff done so they can get right to the Legos before breakfast.  I usually wake up to the sound of all sorts of strange sounds, laughter and loud enthusiastic little men voices as the four of them play in their room.  Sweet memories!

Budding Fashionista!

The girls and I had a very busy day which included lunch at El Sombrero and shopping at thrift stores!  Becca found two (new to her) pairs of skinny jeans, some army boots for the kids adventures in the great outdoors, and she scored big time on these awesome Madden high tops!  They were in perfect shape and for only $5...right in her spending budget!
(I had a pair of these back in the late 80's...HA!)

When we got home Becca pulled out her wardrobe and started putting together new outfits.  She was blessed with two new bags of clothing from...actually I have no idea who...but she sat me down in the living room and started going through the new stuff and her old stuff and came up with some new fresh looks!!!  She loves putting clothing together and coming up with new things.  She has a lot of fun doing this and actually puts outfits together for her younger siblings when they let her.
This was one of her new outfits.  The brown leggings and skirt she had tucked away waiting for a top to be able to wear.  When she pulled this sweater out she was ecstatic, it was the perfect thing to pull the little bit of yellow in the skirt out!

Of course she has to pass all outfits by her daddy who gets the final say in what goes out the door....he's a little protective about his girls....this outfit passed, but even though she tried bless her little heart she still isn't going to get heels out of the house until she is older....much older!  They are really cute cheetah heels though!

When did this happen?

Tonight Johnston and I were sitting on the couch laughing at Becca who was being such a goof.  Becca claimed that her foot was bigger then Johnston's which then led to measuring of feet.  Of course I knew Johnston's feet were bigger then Beccas (12) and even Max (14) or Morgans(15), he passed them this Summer.  Then he wanted to measure his foot against mine, so when we put our feet on the board to measure them this is what I found!!!!  Can it be that my eleven year olds feet are just about to pass mine?  I mean...I have big feet and I am not ashamed to admit it...but when did Johnston's feet grow this big and what does this mean.  I mean he is only ELEVEN!  He has years of growing left...lots of growing...YIKES!
(It seems like only yesterday this foot fit in the palm of my hand and now...wow!)

Now that I'm writing this I realize yet again how quickly my kids are growing up. In the blink of an eye they will all be grown, spreading their wings and moving on into their future lives.
 Loving every second we have!

Family Ties!

Last Sunday we had the honor of meeting some really sweet people....Uncle Randy and Aunt Billie Ray! (Birth family to some of the kiddos!) I'm so glad they came down to visit.  The kids had so much fun hearing many stories and lots of interesting tidbits from the past!  There was much laughter!

Tim and Max our grill team made us some wonderful hamburgers and hotdogs!  Holly made us a wonderful batch of cole slaw...with a wee bit of help.  Everyone chipped in and dinner turned out wonderful.  Josalynd even got me to make a homemade batch of strawberry lemonade which was so yummy and we haven't had it in a long time!  Uncle Randy/Aunt Billie Ray brought all the fixins for ice cream cones including sprinkles which the kids thoroughly enjoyed!

I'm so grateful that they took the time to come down and visit everyone.  It was a very special day which will be warmly remembered!

Homemade Is Always Better!

Today we made Sausage Egg McMuffins!  It was fun and oh my goodness...slap your neighbor yummy!  I don't really like McDonald's McMuffins...but the kids do so I thought we could try our hand at making our own.  Everyone loved them!

Mister 10 cooked the sausage patties, Mister 9 toasted the muffin, Miss 15 cooked the cheese egg muffins and Miss 11 assembled the sandwiches.  It wasn't a long process and the kids are always asking to cook so this was a great opportunity to spend time in the kitchen together.

This is the recipe for our crew:
18 english muffins
18 eggs
18 sausage patties
Cheddar Cheese (18 slices or shredded)
Mayo (for those who want it)

1. Cook up the Sausage (or bacon/ham)
2. Toast English Muffins
3. Take muffin pan...grease each cup...crack one egg in each cup...set oven at 400' and bake for 10 minutes or until cooked almost all the way.
4. Pull out of the oven...add cheese on top of the eggs and put back in the oven until melted.
5. Assemble sandwiches: Bun, egg/cheese, sausage pattie, bun!
6. ENJOY!

This will probably be a weekly breakfast this fall/winter season at the Jeffries.  This ones a keeper folks!
